Earth quake today, 6.8, in Seattle, while Bill Gates was making a speech. Interesting, it wasn't during a Steve Jobs speech.
Thought I should comment on Napster now that my kid can play her MP3's on her CD player. I found it to be a great annoyance. First, she'd download some song I never heard of from some obscure group then insist on getting the CD. More often than not, we'd end up at Zia Records or Stinkweeds and still not be able to find it. Course, I have a pile of vinyl that I can't play. Stereos don't come with turntables anymore. And that Napster usually has what I am looking for if the stores don't. Can't have that. And friends sharing can be just as bad. One friend sent an MP3 of KMFDM. I went out and bought a bunch of CD's cause of that. Then, my kid took them so it's *grumbles* back to Napster. And yes, I've spent a small fortune on CD's. The upside of the new CD/MP3 Player is that she doesn't take a bunch of CD's to school where they get stolen. It does get expensive replacing stolen CD's, so I rather like the MP3 Player.

It works finally, got the CD creator to create a CD-R that can be read in the Memorex CD player, it reads CD-R's and MP3's. Course, I had to shorten all the filenames. I found I had to use the Easy CD Creator and create a single session CD, max letters it reads are 6 so all those names starting with "Wumpscut -" had to be shortened, and I made directories for each band. So, if anyone else gets one of those MP3 reading CD players, you'll know what works.

For fun I like to look at blogs, some of the best designed sites on the net IMHO. Anyway, noted that GeoCities blocking has messed up a few blogs too. The GeoCities files are gone, replaced by the dreaded red x (least in IE). Found some yummy ones here Bishounen Hunter Blog such a lovely occupation, and Elusive Heaven and check out her site, she has Utena, and the most droolsome site design. Now I will probably spend all day hunting anime related blogs.

I just love surprises...not! Yahoo did it again, this time GeoCities decided to block linking to graphics on it's servers wreaking havoc with a multitude of webrings. Rumor has it Tripod did the same thing. It would have been nice if they told us, but no. That's not their style.

Four weeks now, my kid has had her privileges yanked, she still has 2 months to go on the drivers licence suspension. She has snuck out twice that I caught her at, and allegedly went for a walk cause she had nightmares about being incarcerated. She asked if she could spend the night with a friend. I pointed out her recent noncompliance with the rules and got quite an earful about how I am ruining her life, I took her life away. I reminded her it was she who took the drugs, I didn't force her. Dropping her off at school, watching her leave, the picture of defiance in her spikes, full goth regalia. Musing on her life, drugs, sex and lies - yes great life.

Well, I did something not so useful, read a fic, specifically a Heidegger and Palmer yaoi fic, extremely squicky and extremely funny. Gotta bug Ritty and Cys for it if you're interested. They wrote it. Now, to check out my new dj, ah mail is good today.
Probably should write something, schedule is all messed up and I've been working cause today I had Jury Duty which meant I got to sit and wait my turn to get called to line up to go to the courtroom to stand around til time to go in then get asked if I felt I couldn't serve impartially. And since that particular trial was for possession of a drug for sale, I felt I couldn't be impartial. They agreed and so I was released. Now I have the rest of the day to do something useful.

A cautionary note, it is best to always back up your data cause stuff happens. In this case AOL 6 corrupted my files, and I lost all my newly sorted mail. Of course, I had a backup, AOL 5 still had the PFC intact and I had backups on CD-R too. I am not sure what happened, but I am guessing AOL 6 has a fixed limit on the size of the filing cabinet, beyond which it crashes. From my backup, I moved a bunch of stuff into subfolders and saved them separately, decreasing the size of the main PFC. So, hopefully it should crash less. I doubt I lost too much mail in the process, I hope.

Long night at work, upsetting night at work, why? Coworker, not real bright, just transferred into my department. She told me this sad tale of her kid gone wrong, from the way she talked you'd think the kid did drugs or stole stuff or committed some other crime. Well, she did say the kid assaulted her but a careful listening of her tale revealed she started it and is charging the kid with assault to teach her a lesson. So what did this kid do that was so terrible? She came out to her mom. I tried to tell her that you don't change your sexual orientation. Noone converted her, she has a gay child and will have to deal with it. And it's ok to be gay. I think the worst thing about her kid being gay is having to deal with her mother's ignorance.

Shopping, got The $$60,000,000,000 Man, Lost Past and Project Seeds, looking for more Trigun. Wolfwood/Vash yummmm. ^___^
Being innundated with mail, I really needed to be able to sort it.

As fast as Netscape 6.0
Handles CSS and popups with ease
Crashes in a flash
But it sorts mail....AOL 6.0

Yes, I installed it, now I'll probably get kicked off all these mailing lists for having HTML mail - no option for txt.

Useful link Internet Traffic Report at a glance you can see just how slow the net is cause people are swamping Napster to get those last few MP3's downloaded before the ruling takes effect.

Tired, so very tired, just wanted to leave it all. However, some nice email and a certain update early helped my mood. Sleep helped too. Now, bout the spam, got spammed bigtime, well so did bout everyone at Ringsurf.

Moving and sorting stuff is a big pain, just got thru sorting lots and lots of doujinshi. Hundreds and not one Gundam Wing dj and never enough Bart and Billy.

Nice to do something for myself, so I bought myself a lovely Vash the Stampede action figure, It's one beautifully detailed action figure.
Info here, on how to add a webring fragment to those sites, you know those impossible ones like BigStep and of course, if your site is a messageboard, it works the same way, one line, no breaks, then the code works.

Kid got mail, DMV suspended her licence, well she got 2 speeding tickets on the same day from the same cop, she deserves it.

Tuesday, February 06, 2001

Ooooooo, look here. Somebodies got busted, and none of them were my kid. Course, I was responsible for that (my kid's) bust. And I have come under fire for calling the cops. How could I do such a thing? I suppose I should really get upset at that attitude but I'm not as those same people think the legal system is too harsh on child molesters, making them pay for their own counseling and drug testing or even worse, sending them to prison. Oh, the law is so unfair. Well, tough noogies. Drug rehab didn't work so something needs to sink in. And on the bright side, I got a raise which will help pay for my kid's counseling and drug testing. If it works, it's money well spend.

More cheery news, ex told his folks bout my problem. Can things get much worse? I doubt it.
Why people at work shouldn't look at my site: on seeing the pic of Sephiroth on the index page, idiot commented, "She isn't wearing any pants." Now, if it had been a frontal view, doubt he would have made that mistake. Course, had it been a frontal view, I wouldn't have it on this site....no naughty bits here.

Now looking for buttplugs, more specifically a dynamite buttplug, to get a blast up your ass. Not at Rectaltronics Buttplugs didn't know they came in stereo. Well, this isn't helpful. Must check ACME Co. Their products are all coyote tested for explosiveness. Ah here we go, stick dynamite up appropriate orifice and light fuse.
A few comments about understanding supervisors. I had thought my immediate supervisor couldn't care less as she was the only person who hadn't asked about my family crisis that I missed work for. Hey, if you don't show up, someone usually asks. Well, she finally asked so I told her. Her response was to very enthusiastically tell me how acid was her favorite drug to get high on. She loved it. Um, she missed the point here, point being drugs are bad and mess up your mind. The scary thing is that she IS my supervisor.

From a flyer in my kid's former bedroom, I found this. it looks to be an interesting and possibly useful link. Isn't that part of the appeal of blogs, sharing interesting links?
Bored so took out the latest issue of EGM. Inside, is a pic of a wedding cake with Mario and Sonic on it. Sonic is the bride. No they are NOT getting married and Nintendo is NOT buying Sega, but the thought of Mario/Sonic is not the thought I want to be thinking of. Then there's the ad for Fear Effect 2 with two rather voluptuous females wrapped up in each others arms. More bad thoughts. OK, good thought, Tidus, a chara from FFX, looks slightly reminiscent of Gackt as a blond. And Yuna, a female, reminds me of Rinoa, one of FF8's most beloved charas. And they are 17, seems a fave age for Square. I think I will like the real time 3D environment, something I loved in Xenogears. Course there were some other things I loved about Xenogears that I would love to see in a FF movie. Guess?
